Black Out

We had our first big power out yesterday. We woke up to a cold house and ice covering the world outside. I got the fire going while Marshall went out to survey the damage. There was a tree down on a power line just up the road from us. The tree guys were parked on our road and said it would be an all day job and we may get power back late that night.

Some large branches fell on our small shed and the chicken coop. Poor chickens! They are all OK, but there outside run is needing some work. So far that's the major amount of damage here. We did loose a few small trees around our house, but nothing on any other building or on our house.

We played games and tried to keep warm. We are so thankful we have a wood stove! That has been a life savor.
As I was just about to go outside to cook on our camping stove, the power came back on! The kids had been ooooming by the fire and we are pretty sure there prayers were answered. I was able to cook indoors and we had a nice hot meal! Then the power went back out. Wow the timing was amazing.
We attempted to play some more games, but it was really getting hard to see, so I made up the kids beds in front of the fire, got cozy and read some books. Then it was off to a winter dream land by all......

(the power came back on around 10pm....)
